Karma Lama

Karma Lama has guided Everest treks for us since 2015, combining deep regional knowledge with a calm, steady presence.

When Karma Lama joined Himalaya Treks in 2015, he brought with him a quiet confidence born from growing up among the high ridges of the Solu-Khumbu. Over the past decade, we have watched him guide hundreds of travelers safely through the Everest region, leading successful ascents to Mera Peak at 6,476 meters and island peak at 6,189 meters. Fluent in Sherpa, Nepali, and English, he bridges the gap between local culture and our international guests with natural ease.

Karma is known across our team for his meticulous morning gear checks and the small notebook he carries, where he logs weather shifts, blooming rhododendron seasons, and favorite teahouse viewpoints along the Dudh Koshi river. His absolute favorite stretch of trail remains the high traverse above Namche Bazaar toward Tengboche, where the morning light hits Ama Dablam just right. On the trail, he is the person who notices when a traveler is struggling before they mention it themselves, slowing his pace and offering a warm cup of ginger tea from his personal flask.

Away from the main climbing routes, Karma spends his off-seasons in Kathmandu with his family and assists with regional environmental clean-up initiatives. His steady temperament and deep respect for the mountains make him an essential part of our guiding family, ensuring every trekker feels secure from the first step in Lukla to the final descent.
