Pemba Sherpa
Pemba Sherpa is our Founder and Lead Guide, bringing over 20 years of Everest expertise to every trek.
When Pemba Sherpa founded our Kathmandu operations in 2004, he brought with him a lifetime of high-altitude experience cultivated across the Khumbu. Having summitted Mount Everest three times and guided countless parties through the Everest and Makalu regions, he remains our most trusted authority on technical ascents and remote Himalayan routing. Fluent in Sherpa, Nepali, English, and conversational Tibetan, Pemba bridges local culture and international mountaineering with ease.
Despite his extensive credentials, we know Pemba best for the quiet ritual he maintains on every trek: long before the camp wakes up, he stands outside the mess tent with a steaming flask of ginger tea, personally checking the laces and boots of every guest. He prefers the quieter ridge route via Phortse over the main Everest Highway, often stopping to point out the specific juniper bushes his grandmother used for medicinal teas. For Pemba, leading a trek is not just about reaching the destination at 5,364 meters, but about ensuring every traveler feels completely at home in the high mountains.
