At a glance
Trip overview
Our team leads this 7-day journey into the lower Solukhumbu district, ascending to the summit of Pikey Peak at 4065 m. Historically cited by Sir Edmund Hillary as a personal favorite viewpoint, this route provides a sweeping prospect of the high Himalaya without the extreme elevations of the main Khumbu trails. We designed this itinerary for trekkers seeking wide mountain vistas and a lower risk of altitude-related complications.
The trail weaves through terraced hillsides, rhododendron forests, and traditional settlements belonging to Sherpa, Rai, Magar, and Brahmin communities. Unlike the higher northern routes, we encounter a rich blend of diverse ethnic traditions here, offering a genuine glimpse into rural middle-hill life in Nepal. Teahouses along the ridge provide standard lodging and hearty meals, ensuring our group remains comfortable throughout the march.
Terrain varies from well-graded dirt tracks to steeper forest paths and open ridgelines. While accessible to anyone with solid hill-walking fitness, days such as the climb to Pikey Peak Base Camp require sustained physical effort over 7 to 8 hours. We maintain a steady pace, allowing proper physical adaptation as we gain altitude toward our high point.

Altitude & acclimatisation
Our maximum altitude reaches 4065 m at the summit of Pikey Peak. While this is lower than most classic trekking peaks, our team maintains a deliberate pace and monitors all participants for signs of acute mountain sickness.
Best time to trek
We run this trek primarily during the autumn months of September to November and the spring months of March to May. These windows offer stable weather, clear morning mountain views, and comfortable daytime temperatures.
Teahouse accommodation
We stay in local family-run lodges along the trail, offering twin-share rooms with basic wooden beds and foam mattresses. Dining areas are communal and typically heated by a central metal stove in the evenings.
Physical preparation
Participants should engage in cardiovascular conditioning, such as running, cycling, or stair climbing, for at least two months prior to arrival. Being comfortable walking 5 to 8 hours daily on uneven stone steps and dirt paths is essential.
