Trip overview
We design this day hike for travelers seeking a direct connection with the landscapes surrounding the Kathmandu Valley without committing to a multi-week expedition. Located thirty-two kilometers from Kathmandu, our route leads us away from the city streets and into the quiet countryside, following footpaths past local farmhouses and terraced agricultural plots.
This itinerary suits hikers of modest experience who want a solid day on the trail. We begin our journey with a private vehicle transfer from Kathmandu to Sankhu, where our walking route commences. From there, we ascend steadily through local settlements, pine forests, and meadow fields, gaining insight into rural daily life in the mid-hills of Nepal.
Nagarkot serves as the primary vantage point of our route. On clear days, our team gathers at the view tower to observe a sweeping mountain panorama that includes the Annapurna range, Ganesh Himal, Langtang peaks, and distant views toward Mt. Everest and Cho Oyu. We maintain a steady, manageable pace throughout the walk, ensuring all participants can comfortably adapt to the terrain before we return to Kathmandu by private vehicle in the evening.

We pick you up early in the morning from your hotel in Kathmandu for a private vehicle transfer to the historic town of Sankhu. Upon arrival, we begin our ascent on foot, following paths that wind through local agricultural fields, patches of forest, and scattered rural settlements. Our team maintains a steady rhythm as we climb above the valley floor.
After several hours of walking through the mid-hills, we arrive at the Nagarkot ridge. We take time to rest and observe the surrounding mountain peaks before heading to the local view tower for evening vistas. Following our time on the ridge, our private vehicle picks us up for the return drive back to Kathmandu.
