At a glance
Trip overview
We lead this comprehensive journey through the Langtang and Helambu regions, combining the remote glacial valley of Langtang with the sacred high-altitude waters of Gosainkunda. Our route takes us past terraced farmlands, dense rhododendron forests, and traditional Tamang villages where Tibetan Buddhism deeply shapes daily life. We ascend gradually to allow for safe acclimatization, passing ancient monasteries and stone chortens that mark the old trade routes toward Tibet.
This trek suits hikers who have experience with multi-day alpine walking and are comfortable with consecutive days of significant uphill and downhill movement. The terrain transitions from forested riverbanks along the Langtang Khola to exposed high ridges above the tree line. We cross strenuous mountain passes where weather can shift rapidly, requiring reliable gear and steady pacing under the guidance of our experienced crew.
Throughout the expedition, we stay in local teahouses run by families from the region, sharing communal dining spaces and tasting traditional mountain meals. We navigate the trails with deep respect for local customs, particularly around sacred sites like Gosainkunda Lake, which holds immense religious significance for both Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims.
