We lead a 10-day high-altitude ascent to the 5895 m summit of Kilimanjaro, focusing on structured acclimatisation and technical preparation.

At a glance

Trip overview

We organise this 10-day Kilimanjaro expedition to provide climbers with a methodical and supported ascent to the roof of Africa at 5895 m. Our route transitions through multiple distinct ecological zones, beginning in dense montane forest before breaking out onto high moorlands, alpine deserts, and finally the arctic summit zone of Kibo. This itinerary is specifically designed for mountaineers seeking a rigorous physical challenge while maintaining safe ascent profiles through deliberate altitude adaptation.

Our lead guides and support teams manage all technical logistics, camp setups, and daily health checks. We move at a steady, sustainable pace to encourage natural acclimatisation, minimizing the risks associated with rapid altitude gain. Each camp along the circuit offers a base to build endurance and observe the shifting volcanic topography of Tanzania.

This program suits both intermediate trekkers looking to step into high-altitude environments and experienced mountaineers preparing for larger peaks. While technical climbing equipment is not required for the standard trail, physical resilience and mental preparedness are essential for the long summit push from Barafu Camp.

Before you go

Good to know

Altitude & Acclimatisation

We manage altitude exposure by maintaining a slow, deliberate pace—known locally as 'pole pole'. Our itinerary includes specific altitude gains and daytime climbs to higher elevations followed by lower sleeping altitudes to stimulate red blood cell production.

Our guides carry pulse oximeters and monitor oxygen saturation levels daily. Any signs of acute mountain sickness are addressed immediately according to established descent protocols.

Physical Preparation

Although Kilimanjaro is a non-technical walk-up that does not require mountaineering ropes or ice axes, the physical demands are substantial. We recommend starting a cardiovascular conditioning program at least four to six months prior to departure, focusing on stair climbing, running, and long weekend hikes with a loaded backpack.

Weather & Temperatures

Conditions on the mountain vary widely depending on the altitude zone. While the lower rainforests are warm and humid, the summit plateau experiences sub-zero temperatures, high winds, and potential snowstorms. Layered technical clothing and windproof shells are mandatory for the final ascent.

Hydration & Water

Maintaining proper fluid intake is critical for preventing altitude illness. Our team purifies and boils water for your daily bottles and hydration bladders at every camp.
