Trip overview
We have designed this eight-day journey to bridge two distinct Himalayan cultures, taking you from the congested, pagoda-studded alleys of the Kathmandu Valley across the high Himalayan barrier to the Tibetan capital of Lhasa. This itinerary suits travelers interested in Buddhist architecture, living religious traditions, and medieval urban landscapes without requiring strenuous high-altitude trekking.
Our route begins in Nepal with guided explorations of Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath, and Bouddhanath, before we board a scenic flight to the Tibetan Plateau. Landing in Lhasa at an altitude of 3,490 metres, we spend our days exploring landmark monastic sites including the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Sera Monastery, and Drepung Monastery, guided by licensed local experts who provide deep context into Tibetan monastic life and history.
Returning to Nepal, our program concludes with dedicated walking tours through the well-preserved medieval brick-paved squares of Patan and Bhaktapur. Throughout the tour, we manage all cross-border permits, visa formalities, ground transport, and accommodation in three-star hotels, ensuring a seamless multi-country experience.

Before you go
Good to know
Altitude & acclimatisation
Lhasa lies at an altitude of 3,490 m, which can cause mild symptoms of acute mountain sickness upon arrival. We recommend drinking plenty of water, avoiding strenuous physical exertion on your first day, and resting adequately to let your body adjust naturally to the thinner air.
Best time to visit
The tour runs most favorably during spring (January to May) and autumn (September to December). These months typically offer clear blue skies for the trans-Himalayan flights and dry weather for walking through temple courtyards and historic city squares.
Permits & documentation
Traveling to Tibet requires a Chinese Visa and a Tibet Travel Permit issued through the Tibet Tourism Bureau. Our team handles these applications on your behalf using your passport details well in advance of your arrival in Kathmandu.
Fitness expectations
This is a cultural tour rather than a high-altitude trek, involving mostly walking on uneven stone pavement, steps, and ramparts within monasteries and palace complexes. Moderate walking fitness is all that is required.
