Trip overview
We offer this accessible day hike as a direct escape from the congestion of the Kathmandu Valley, heading northeast to the ridgeline of Kakani at 2,030 metres. This route suits travelers and families seeking an introduction to the Middle Hills terrain without committing to a multi-week expedition. Our journey begins with a private drive from Kathmandu, winding past rural terraces planted with rice, maize, and millet before climbing into stands of pine and oak.
As we reach the vantage point at Kakani, our team guides you toward the prominent view tower. From here, we observe the expansive peaks of the Langtang range, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and the distant Annapurna massifs on clear days. We also explore local agricultural projects, including strawberry fields and trout farms, alongside historical sites like the Thai Memorial Park.
While this route is graded as easy and demands only moderate cardiovascular fitness, we maintain a steady pace to ensure comfort. The paths consist of dirt tracks, stone steps, and forest trails that require standard hiking footwear. We provide an experienced English-speaking guide to manage transport, logistics, and interpretive details throughout the day.
