Trip overview

Our morning mountain flights provide an accessible alternative for travelers who lack the time or physical conditioning required for multi-day trekking expeditions. Operating out of the domestic terminal at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, these flights ascend above the cloud line to offer panoramic views across the major Himalayan ranges, including the Everest, Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh, and Dhaulagiri massifs.

We coordinate these flights during the early morning hours when atmospheric stability is highest over the high-altitude regions. Every passenger is assigned a guaranteed window seat, and our participants are frequently invited to the cockpit by the flight crew for an unobstructed view of the surrounding peaks, including Mount Everest visible in the distance.

This excursion is suitable for all visitors regardless of hiking experience, serving as either an introduction to Nepal's geography or a final scenic overview before departure. Ground transportation from your hotel to the airport and back is managed directly by our team to ensure a seamless morning schedule.

Good to know

Weather dependency

Mountain flights are entirely dependent on prevailing meteorological conditions. If visibility is poor or winds are unfavourable, airlines will delay or cancel the flight for safety reasons. In the event of a cancellation, we either reschedule your flight for the following morning or issue a full refund for the flight ticket.

Best season

While we operate flights throughout the year, the autumn months from September to November and the spring season from March to May offer the most consistent clear skies and stable atmospheric conditions over the high peaks.

Flight duration

The airborne portion of the trip lasts between 45 minutes and 1 hour. Total time away from your hotel, including ground transfers and airport check-in procedures, is approximately 3 hours.

Aircraft types

Domestic carriers such as Buddha Air, Yeti Airlines, and Saurya Airlines operate these routes using turboprop aircraft equipped with high-wing configurations designed for aerial sightseeing.

Frequently asked questions

Is a window seat guaranteed on the flight?

Yes. Airlines configure the seating charts so that every passenger occupies a window seat during the flight, and passengers are rotated if necessary to view both sides of the range.

What happens if the flight is cancelled due to bad weather?

If visibility is insufficient, the airline postpones the flight to the next morning. If your schedule does not allow for rescheduling, we provide a full refund for the flight portion.

How close do we get to Mount Everest?

The aircraft cruises approximately 20 miles away from Mount Everest, providing a clear visual of the summit and neighbouring peaks without entering restricted airspace.

Do I need any permits for a mountain flight?

No trekking permits or special conservation area cards are required for a domestic scenic mountain flight originating and terminating in Kathmandu.

What time does the tour start?

Hotel pickups typically occur between 5:30 AM and 6:00 AM to reach the domestic terminal before the morning departure slots.

Can children join the mountain flight?

Yes, travelers of all ages can join the flight. Infants usually sit on a parent's lap, while children occupy their own paid seat.
