Trip overview
We offer this ten-day combined cultural journey to explore the architectural and spiritual heritage of Nepal and the Kingdom of Bhutan. Our route connects the medieval plazas of the Kathmandu Valley with the valleys of Paro and Thimphu, bringing us into close contact with traditional Newari woodwork and Bhutanese Vajrayana Buddhist architecture. We designed this program for travelers who prefer deep cultural immersion over strenuous high-altitude mountaineering, keeping our maximum elevation at 3120 m in Nagarkot.
Our itinerary begins in Kathmandu, where our team meets you at Tribhuvan International Airport and leads guided walks through historic durbar squares and stupas. We then travel to the ridge of Nagarkot for sunrise views over the central Himalaya before flying eastward to Bhutan. In Bhutan, our local guides introduce us to the fortress-monasteries known as dzongs, sacred chortens, and the steep cliffside trail leading to Taktsang Monastery, commonly called the Tiger's Nest.
Throughout the tour, we manage all inter-country flights, ground transport, visa arrangements, and regional permits. Our team stays in comfortable three-star hotels, ensuring restful nights after our daily walking excursions through urban alleys, rural paths, and monastic courtyards. The physical demands of this tour are accessible to anyone with a moderate level of walking fitness, making it a balanced exploration of two distinct Himalayan nations.

Altitude considerations
Our maximum altitude on this tour reaches 3120 m at Nagarkot, which is modest compared to high-altitude trekking routes. Most travelers experience no acute mountain sickness at this elevation, but we still maintain a steady pace during all walks.
Visa arrangements
We handle your Bhutan visa processing in advance as part of our package. For Nepal, visas are obtainable on arrival at Kathmandu airport using cash or major credit cards.
Fitness requirements
This is a cultural tour rather than a strenuous trek, though you should be comfortable walking on uneven stone steps and dirt paths for two to four hours a day. Regular walking preparation in the months prior to your trip will ensure an enjoyable experience.
Cultural etiquette
When visiting temples, monasteries, and dzongs in both Nepal and Bhutan, we ask that you dress modestly by covering your shoulders and knees. Photography inside inner sanctums is generally restricted by local customs.
