Trip overview
Our seven-day Short Everest Trek is designed for hikers who want a direct encounter with the Khumbu region without committing to a full two-week circuit. We guide you from the dramatic mountain airstrip at Lukla along the roaring Dudh Koshi River, ascending through pine and cedar forests into the heart of Sherpa territory.
We have structured this route to balance efficiency with necessary acclimatisation. Spending nights in Phakding and Namche Bazaar allows our bodies to adjust safely to the rising elevation before we push up toward the ridge viewpoints above Namche. We traverse Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site protecting high-altitude ecosystems and traditional alpine settlements.
This journey suits walkers with good baseline cardiovascular fitness who are comfortable with daily ascents on stone staircases and suspension bridges. While we do not reach the base camp itself, our high point at the Everest View Hotel provides sweeping panoramas of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam, offering an authentic Himalayan experience within a compact timeframe.

Good to know
Altitude & acclimatisation
We reach a maximum elevation of 3900 m on this trek. Our itinerary includes a dedicated acclimatisation day in Namche Bazaar to mitigate the risk of acute mountain sickness. Our guides carry pulse oximeters to monitor oxygen saturation levels daily.
Lukla flight logistics
Flights to and from Lukla are weather-dependent and can experience delays or diversions to Ramechhap Airport during peak seasons. We build buffer time into our operations, but we advise keeping a few flexible days at the end of your international itinerary.
Teahouse accommodation
We lodge in twin-share alpine teahouses run by local families along the route. Facilities are basic and unheated in the dining and sleeping areas, though blankets and mattresses are provided.
Physical preparation
We recommend consistent cardiovascular training such as running, cycling, or stair-climbing for at least two months prior to departure. Carrying a daypack uphill for six hours daily requires sound joint health and endurance.

Frequently asked questions
What is the maximum altitude reached on this trek?
We reach our highest point at approximately 3900 m during our acclimatisation hike to the Everest View Hotel above Namche Bazaar.
How difficult is the Short Everest Trek?
We rate this trek as easy to moderate. It involves daily walks of 3 to 7 hours over uneven stone steps and suspension bridges with sustained uphill sections.
What happens if the Lukla flight is delayed by weather?
Mountain weather in Lukla changes rapidly. If flights are grounded, we wait for the next safe weather window and adjust our daily walking pace accordingly.
Do I need travel insurance for this trip?
Yes. We require all participants to hold comprehensive travel insurance that covers emergency medical treatment and helicopter evacuation up to 4000 m.
Can I charge my electronic devices along the trail?
Most teahouses offer electricity to charge phones and camera batteries, though operators charge a small hourly fee since power relies on local hydro or solar systems.
Are vegetarian food options available in the teahouses?
Yes, teahouses serve standard dal bhat, noodles, vegetable soups, and rice dishes. We advise avoiding meat products on the trek due to lack of refrigeration.
