Trip overview
Our fourteen-day expedition to Everest Base Camp follows the legendary footpath carved through the Khumbu region by generations of mountaineers and traders. We begin with the dramatic mountain flight into Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla at 2840 m, stepping immediately onto stone-paved trails that trace the course of the Dudh Koshi river. We ascend gradually through pine forests, cross suspension bridges hung with prayer flags, and enter the protected boundaries of Sagarmatha National Park.
This route is designed for hill walkers with a solid level of cardiovascular fitness who are prepared for consecutive days of uphill and downhill trekking. We spend our nights in family-run teahouses, eating dal bhat and sleeping at altitudes that gradually increase day by day. We build strategic acclimatisation stops into our schedule, particularly in Namche Bazaar at 3440 m and Dingboche at 4410 m, allowing our bodies to adjust safely to the thinning mountain air.
Beyond Namche, the landscape opens into wide glacial valleys framed by towering granite and ice faces. We walk beneath the shadow of Thamserku, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Nuptse, visiting ancient Buddhist monasteries such as Tengboche along the way. The physical effort required on the rocky moraines and final staircases is matched by the cultural depth of our encounters with the Sherpa community, whose hospitality sustains us in the high Himalayas.

Good to know
Altitude & acclimatisation
We design our itinerary with steady altitude gains and dedicated acclimatisation days in Namche Bazaar and Dingboche. Staying hydrated, walking at a slow and steady pace, and listening closely to our lead guides are your best defences against acute mountain sickness.
Teahouse accommodation
We stay in family-run lodges along the trail that provide twin-share rooms with wooden beds and foam mattresses. Dining rooms are heated by central yak-dung stoves, but bedrooms are unheated, so a warm sleeping bag rated to at least -15 °C is essential.
Physical preparation
This is a strenuous trek involving 5 to 7 hours of walking each day over uneven stone steps and high-altitude terrain. We recommend starting cardiovascular training, stair climbing, and long weekend hikes at least three months prior to your departure.
Mountain weather & flights
Flights between Kathmandu and Lukla are subject to changing weather conditions in the mountains. We always build a buffer day into our schedule, but we advise packing extra patience and flexible travel insurance in case of flight delays.

What is the highest altitude we reach?
The highest sleeping altitude is Gorak Shep at 5164 m, and the highest physical point reached on the trek is Kala Patthar at 5545 m.
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes. Comprehensive travel insurance that specifically covers emergency medical evacuation by helicopter up to 6000 m is mandatory for all our trekkers.
