Trip overview
We design this seven-day itinerary for trekkers who want to experience the high Khumbu without pushing on to Everest Base Camp. Our route follows the Dudh Koshi river valley from Lukla, climbing steadily through pine forests and Sherpa settlements to the regional hub of Namche Bazaar and the spiritual center of Tengboche Monastery.
This trek suits walkers who possess a solid level of baseline fitness and wish to witness the world's highest peaks up close while keeping daily hiking durations manageable. We maintain a deliberate pace, ensuring adequate time for rest and acclimatisation in Namche Bazaar before we ascend toward our highest elevation at Tengboche.
Along the trail, we traverse multiple suspension bridges spanning roaring glacial rivers and walk past traditional stone houses and mani walls. The landscape opens above Namche to reveal sweeping vistas of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Everest itself, providing a complete Himalayan experience within a shorter timeframe.

Altitude & acclimatisation
Our highest sleeping altitude on this trek is 3,867 m at Tengboche, with a daytime high of around 3,880 m near the Everest View Hotel. We include a dedicated acclimatisation day in Namche Bazaar at 3,440 m to allow your body time to adjust safely.
Fitness expectations
This is a moderate trek involving daily walking times of four to six hours on uneven mountain paths. The ascents are sustained, particularly the climb to Namche Bazaar, so we recommend maintaining a regular cardio routine prior to your arrival.
Weather conditions
Mountain weather can change quickly. Daytime temperatures are generally pleasant during our operating seasons, but night temperatures drop below freezing once we gain elevation. Proper layering is essential.
Flight delays
Flights between Kathmandu and Lukla are frequently subject to weather delays or cancellations. We advise building a few extra buffer days into your international travel schedule to accommodate potential schedule shifts.
