Trip overview
Our six-day cultural tour through Bhutan offers a close look at the architecture, traditions, and landscapes of the Himalayan kingdom. We designed this route for travelers interested in a measured pace that balances valley sightseeing with moderate day hikes through forested hills, rural villages, and terraced paddy fields.
We begin our travels in the capital of Thimphu before crossing mountain passes down to the fertile valleys of Punakha and the glacial expanse of Phobjikha. Along the way, our team introduces you to centuries-old Buddhist monasteries, imposing fortresses known as dzongs, and local conservation areas protecting native wildlife such as the black-necked cranes.
This itinerary suits travelers of moderate fitness looking to explore Himalayan culture without high-altitude mountaineering. While the daily walking is manageable, the route includes optional climbs—such as the steep trail to Taktsang Monastery—allowing participants to tailor the physical demands of the journey to their preference.

Fitness & pacing
This trip involves short, manageable walks rather than strenuous alpine mountaineering. The longest physical effort is the optional hike to Taktsang Monastery, which features stone steps and a steady uphill gradient.
Best time to travel
Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) provide the most stable weather conditions and clear mountain views. Daytime temperatures remain pleasant, though evenings in Thimphu and Phobjikha can turn cool.
Cultural etiquette
When visiting temples, dzongs, and monasteries in Bhutan, we ask that you dress modestly by covering your shoulders and legs. Photography inside sacred prayer halls is generally restricted.
Accommodation & meals
We arrange stays at government-approved 3-star hotels during the tour. Full board meals—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—are provided daily, featuring a mix of local Bhutanese, Indian, and continental dishes.
