At a glance
Trip overview
Our 12-day trek takes us into the heart of the Khumbu region, diverging from the main Everest Base Camp highway to reach the foot of Ama Dablam at 4,600 m. Rising above the valley with symmetrical ridges and a hanging glacier, the peak provides a dramatic backdrop as we move through pine forests, suspension bridges, and traditional Sherpa settlements.
We design this route for hikers who want a quieter alternative to the classic EBC trail while still experiencing high-altitude terrain in the Everest region. We navigate steady ascents, alpine meadows, and glacial streams, passing through villages like Phortse and Pangboche where farming and mountaineering shape daily life.
While we do not encounter technical climbing on this itinerary, we face sustained physical effort in thin air above 3,500 m. Our team monitors your acclimatisation carefully, utilizing designated rest days in Namche Bazaar and gradual elevation gains to ensure everyone adjusts safely to the altitude.

Good to know
Altitude & acclimatisation
We reach a maximum elevation of 4,600 m at Ama Dablam Base Camp. Our itinerary includes dedicated acclimatisation days in Namche Bazaar and gradual elevation gains to give your body time to adjust to decreasing oxygen levels.
Our guides carry pulse oximeters to monitor your blood oxygen saturation daily. If anyone shows persistent symptoms of acute mountain sickness, our team is trained to manage descents and coordinate emergency support.
Teahouse accommodation
We accommodate you in twin-sharing rooms at local teahouses along the trail. Facilities are basic, featuring wooden beds with foam mattresses, blankets, and communal dining halls heated by central stoves.
Hot showers and device charging are available at most lodges for an extra fee, though amenities become simpler and less frequent as we gain elevation above Namche Bazaar.
Physical preparation
We recommend starting a cardiovascular training regimen several months before departure, focusing on running, cycling, or stair climbing with a loaded backpack. Back-to-back long day hikes on uneven terrain will best prepare your joints for the daily distances.
Weather and mountain flights
Mountain weather in the Khumbu is unpredictable and can change rapidly at high altitudes. Lukla flights are frequently delayed or rerouted through Ramechhap during peak seasons due to visibility and wind conditions, so we advise adding buffer days to your international travel schedule.
